The 10-hour operation removed both tumours and completed complex digestive reconstruction involving five anastomoses.
Reported outcome: The report says the patient recovered and left hospital after two weeks without the feared anastomotic leak, then began adjuvant treatment. It is one reported case, not a prediction for other patients.
